NPC Representative Wang Junjin Inspected the Implementation of the Solid Waste Law in Shanghai

as a Member of the NPC Law Enforcement Inspection Team

Law enforcement inspection is a legal form and an important way of NPC supervision as well as a major approach for the NPC to promote the implementation of laws and the construction of a country ruled by law. From June 5 to 8, the NPC law enforcement inspection team, led by Arken Imirbaki, Vice Chairman of NPC Standing Committee, inspected the implementation of the Law on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Waste (hereinafter referred to as the "Solid Waste Law") in Shanghai. NPC Representative and Chairman of JuneYao Group Wang Junjin carefully participated in the inspection as a formal member.

In order to gain a thorough understanding of the current treatment and disposal of household garbage in Shanghai, the inspection team visited an old residential district on Gonghexin Road to learn from residents about their participation in garbage sorting and recycling. It's learned that the community just built a "Scindapsus Environmental Space" - Green Account Credit Exchange Station as a pilot program for implementing the new model of household garbage sorting at source in large community. The law enforcement inspection team affirmed the "Green Account" incentive mechanism. NPC Representative Wang Junjin said, "We must change our passive attitude towards household garbage sorting to a positive one. Only in this way can household garbage sorting be done effectively. The service station built and the 'Green Account' incentive measure taken by the community will help residents build awareness about environmental protection and cultivate the habit of garbage sorting." Regarding household garbage treatment, the inspection team visited the Laogang solid waste disposal base in Pudong New Area, the solid waste logistics center in Jing'an District and the garbage Wharf on Hulin Road to inspect the whole process from garbage sorting to collecting and compressing, transportation and transfer, and terminal disposal.

During the 4-day law enforcement inspection, the inspection team of which Wang Junjin was a part listed to a report of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Shanghai Municipal Government on the overall implementation of the Solid Waste Law in Shanghai, inspected the acceptance, storage and disposal of solid waste in Shanghai such as waste motor vehicles, waste electrical and electronic products, hazardous waste, waste oils and fats, and surveyed the condition and use of the public space on the banks of the Huangpu River.
