ReleaseDate: 2012-06-07

In the evening of May 11, JuneYao Airlines ceremoniously held Shanghai-Okinawa Flight Route Announcement Meeting, and announced to open non-stop flight route from Shanghai to Naha, the capital city of Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, in August, with 4 flights scheduled for each week carried by brand-new Airbus A320 aircraft.

The nonstop Shanghai-Okinawa route, which is scheduled to shuttle between Shanghai and Okinawa every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, will become the first international flight route opened by JuneYao Airlines; with a flight code of HO1279/1280, the flight is expected to depart from Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 10: 30 a.m. Beijing time, and arrive at Okinawa at 13: 30 local time; its takeoff time from Okinawa is 14: 30 local time, and the arrival time at Shanghai Pudong Airport is 15: 30 Beijing time.

With only about 2 hours flight time from Shanghai, Okinawa is one of the four famous beach resorts worldwide. Enjoying the fine reputation of “Shangri-la in Japan”, Okinawa boasts rich tourism resources in terms of beautiful natural scenery and ancient cultural background, for which it has long been the desired tourism destination for Chinese tourists; nowadays, it is also increasingly becoming the top ranking destination for Chinese to book sea island recreational tour, or hold overseas wedding.

Since July 1st last year when new visa policy was implemented for individual Chinese citizens to arrange self-guided tour to Japan, passengers with multiple travel visa only needs to enter Japan from Okinawa; in the future they can conveniently cross the border anywhere in Japan, and the visa is valid for three years, and the longest stay each time can last 90 days in Japan. The new policy has encouraged an increasingly growing number of tourists to visit Japan, while at the same time provided an excellent opportunity for JuneYao Airlines to kick off the operation of its Shanghai-Okinawa flight route.

It has been learned that currently only China Eastern Airlines operates flights between Shanghai and Okinawa, and Air China and Hainan Airlines operate regular flight between Beijing and Okinawa. The opening of Shanghai-Okinawa nonstop flight by JuneYao Airlines will offer more choices to passengers traveling between Shanghai and Okinawa (China and Japan) for tourist travel, business exchange, and economic or cultural communication, and bring them faster travel experience and superior flight services.
